Film Review No.393: Deadpool

Making a film of Deadpool has been something many of the character’s fans would have said was a no brainer for years. If you’re a fan you just know the character could work really well on screen. He could also be done terribly… and I’m not even referring to whatever that was at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Deadpool has to traverse a very fine line where excess is required but go a little too far, or not far enough, and you’ll have something that feels inauthentic. Well, the Deadpool Movie starring Ryan Reynolds straddles that line perfectly. Prepare for a semi-large number of words on why Mr Pool’s movie is really very very good.

Movie Review No.69: Buried

When you learn to write screenplays one thing that you’ll learn is that if you want to sell a script early on it’s smart to keep the locations, characters and scale as small as you can. Sure, if you’ve got something special go crazy, but if you just want to get work keep it simple. The smaller the scale the smaller the budget. Buried is about as small as it gets. 1 location, 1 on screen actor and only 2 cameras used. As simple as that sounds it was pure insanity for director Rodrigo Cortes to even attempt this. This is the sort of creative technical challenge great directors live for. How does it fare? Click the link for my views.

Movie Review No.27: Green Lantern

Well my most looked forward to comic book movie of the summer is here. The Green lantern movie is finally here. I’ve posted like a million… well closer to 3, trailers for this film. I themed a Trailer Park entry around it and also reviewed the animated movie the other day. Just got back from seeing Green Lantern and you know what, it wasn’t all bad. I guess I should go into more depth, which I will, after the jump.

In Blackest night…

Who’s hyped for The Green Lantern movie? Here’s a trailer to tide you over!!!

The Green Lantern has managed to go from being possibly the worst of the summer blockbuster movies after it’s first trailer to being my most anticipated. Even more so than Captain America. Seeing the Wondercon footage really helped show that they are really going for large scale intergalactic space opera stuff here which is exactly what a Green Lantern movie should be. Anyway, here’s a new trailer with even more new footage. Click the link to view it!
