Stats Dump! 6 Months Old Edition

The Film Dump is 6 months old today!!! That means I have watched a total of 77 films in 6 months and wrote a review for each one. Actually I’ve seen 78 but I couldn’t decide if Chanbara Striptease was really a film or not and so I ignored it. As you should to. Anyway, I said I’d do a Stats Dump post after 6 months so here it is. Click the link if you’re the sort of boring sod that likes statistics!

After 2 months of this little blog going I was just creeping up on 5,000 total views. Half of those were taken up with views for the trailer to Harry potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. I was pleased to have that many views but at the same time it was a little annoying that the majority belonged to just one post. Things have spread out a fair bit since then though. My total number of views at this moment now sits at a quite frankly remarkable 21,528. Now that Harry Potter trailer still takes up a fair cut of that total, 5,789 in total. But that’s a quarter of the total views and not a full half. A much better split.

My average daily views for October sits at 179 which is actually more than the average during June when that trailer was released. I’m consistently hitting between 150 and 200 views a day, occasionally going towards 300. There’s a wide variety of reviews being read though. There really isn’t much pattern showing that largely I’m pulling in people who have stumbled upon my blog through searches. One review has been consistent over the last few weeks with pulling in around 30 views a day though and that’s my review of Human Centipede. Oddly it had hardly any views for a few weeks and then when Human Centipede 2 got refused a certificate in the UK it’s views shot up.

Now it’s time for the top 5 reviews! 4 months ago the top 5 looked like this…

Movie Review No.19: X-Men 2……………………………………..187 Views
Movie Review No.5: Titanic 2 … Wait, What?………………………..176 Views
Movie Review No.20: X-Men: The Last Stand…………………………141 Views
Movie Review No.22: X-Men: First Class……………………………126 Views
Movie Review No.21: X-Men Origins: Wolverine………………………77 Views

Now it looks like this!

Movie Review No.52: The Human Centipede – First Sequence……………1,494 Views
Movie Review No.19: X-Men 2……………………………………..738 Views
Movie Review No.45: Ip Man………………………………………599 Views
Movie Review No.36: Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone………..591 Views
Movie Review No.20: X-Men: The Last Stand…………………………544 Views

What’s good to see is that the first 3 are all positive reviews. Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone is an average review and only X-Men 3 is a negative review. usually I’d expect negative reviews to be the most viewed because, let’s face it, it’s fun reading about how bad something is. I’m surprised to see Ip Man there. Might have to grab a copy of the second film. Also, what happened to Shane Van Dyke’s Titanic 2? Why it’s the 6th most viewed review with 530 views in total. In all I have 27 reviews that have gone past 100 views. the least viewed is currently Paprika which is quite frankly offensive because that film is amazing.

Paprika could easily enter your dreams and mess up your brain for not reading her films review you know.

As far as searches go it’s a pretty obvious tally based on what the most viewed film reviews are. The Shane Van Dyke love has certainly fallen by the wayside over the last few months. What’s more interesting is the weird searches I’ve had.

Chris Evans Shirt Off
True Grit Spanking Scene…. (you need help sirs. Yes sirs.)
Chester Bennington 2000
how does the plot of the firest film, ‘transformers’ unfold?
urotsukidoji i: legend of the overfiend rape of young girl (!!!)
x-men, x-men 2, x-men: the last stand and lastly, x-men origin: wolverine. (it’s the “and lastly” I love)
waiting for superman what do you learn from the film (If you are studying this film at school and you have to ask this question then your schools have failed you)
is human centipede possible

There’s oddly a lot of searches for The Guyver. Considering I’ve never reviewed any of the films it’s pretty interesting that people found the blog from that search. I think I may have mentioned it in passing in the Urotosukidoji review, but that’s it. Guyver Dark Hero is well worth watching by the way. It’s camp fun and it also stars Mr Solid Snake himself David Hayter who is also the writer of many a super hero movie. Watch this terrible trailer for the film.

His names Sean BARKER dammit! Gawd.

So that’s it for the 6 month Stat Dump. I’ll do another in April providing I haven’t got bored of doing this by then. i don’t think I will though. Actually got asked to write something for another site from this and have had reviews published in the internal trade magazine for the company I work for. Over the next few days I’ll be hammering the horror movies through. Not gonna reveal what they are yet but there’s 4 to go. May go silent next week though because Battlefield 3 is out and that’s the most important thing ever.
